Ok, now that I'm somewhat sedated by a long day of work, I will try to explain why I feel that
Kos is ignoring a large number of his loyal readers, and why it does us and him a disservice (without profanity).
First, this is a great site. It has a nice format and a lot of smart people who frequent it. But watching the diaries lately has made me increasingly frustrated that the site's 'leadership' will not elevate any of the Ohio stories to the front page. Take a look at the Recommended List...a majority right now are about Ohio.
This would make anyone start to think something was going on that was at least somewhat important, because truly hack diaries get buried pretty quickly around here. But what about the frontpage? Some argue that Kos is just covering his ass and credibility in an intelligent way so that he doesn't prematurely endorse something that turns out to be false. This approach is disingenuous, though, for several reasons (below):
- The House investigation merits coverage in itself, as a legitimate and important function of Congress.
- The people of Ukraine didn't acheive their success by waiting around...they pushed for investigations and won.
- Kos doesn't have to say that the allegations are true, just draw attention to them - with a disclaimer of course. Bringing things into the glaring light of public attention is the only way to find the truth, fraud or no fraud.
- Kos has the ear of the MSM, and can make a big impact. His words could help focus more attention on the issue in the press and public.
Kos' readers are clearly concerned about the issue of voting fraud, and he is doing them a disservice by not addressing things directly. Ultimately, he is doing himself a disservice as well...there will come a time when people will ask each other:
"What did YOU do for your country?"
